To provide the highest quality of care in the early detection of breast cancer, Southwest Diagnostic Imaging Center is now equipped with Selenia™ digital mammography systems from Hologic®. Instead of using film to capture and record the image, a digital mammogram uses a special detector to capture and convert
X-ray energy into a digital image. The resulting digital images are immediately available to the radiologist for review and diagnosis. In addition to its breakthrough technology, the Selenia is noted for its patient comfort and safety. The system's large field of view accommodates almost all breast sizes exposure and is the only system available with this feature.

In conjunction with the Selenia system, SWDIC provides an exceptional FDA-approved computer-aided detection (CAD) tool for screening and diagnostic mammograms, the R2 ImageChecker. This innovative technology assists our radiologists in analyzing the mammogram by highlighting areas on the image that contain suspicious features.
