PACS - Online Digital Imaging and Computer Networks
Southwest Diagnostic Imaging Center (SWDIC) is linked to all hospitals affiliated with Texas Health Resources (THR) via CareGate, a secure Web-based portal. Physicians authorized to use this network may view images and share patient information by comparing their studies and reports with others in the network. SWDIC archives images to a Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS), expediting patient care by allowing physicians to electronically access patient images and reports more quickly and easily than ever.
To access these systems, a physician or staff member must complete, sign, and return a confidentiality agreement, available here for download. Forms for referring physicians differ from those for their staff members, so please be sure to complete the appropriate form in order to access to SWDIC’s patient images. Once access is granted, images can be viewed in several different ways:
- THR provides a secure, web-based portal (CareGate) that allows physicians and their staff to securely access images from their offices or even off campus. *
- Images may be accessed via clinical workstations located throughout affiliate hospitals.
- SWDIC may record images onto a CD-R, allowing physicians to dynamically view them on any Windows-based PC.
